Some mothers tend to know a lot about their children and perhaps other children too. A mother generally has a natural instinct to protect her young. Even if they are full grown that "intuition" never goes away.

"intuition: the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning"

If it is factual, then you could attribute the feeling to an intuition but sometimes it is paranoia or something else being called an intuition as opposed to a conscious reasoning that makes use of our memory to arrive at conclusions. We have to think about it consciously to figure out if it is valid, so the conscious reasoning may at some times be more accurate than the intuition.
